Boarderline presents Forum Snowboards: F*** It

Yup that's right kids Boarderline are hosting the premier of Nicol Paton's new snowboard movie he's been working on for a few years now called FISH IT! You will see much gnarly, steezy riding and fishing while riding, man that takes skill but ya know if the fish takes off then you can keep up on the chase. Guest appearance by Nicol 'thee Slamon' Paton and his fishy friends, maybe a cameo appearance by 'Gavin Rettie Angler Extrordinair, who has a Glorious Moustasche and is Awesome at Volleyball', have you ever seen a fish play volleyball, or ride a snowboard well you will now, some slick and slippery moves going down. Make sure you get down to the tunnels 7.30 Thurs 21st October to witness this amazing spectacle....

Emmet Stachan we miss yoooouuuuuuu :(

Emmet Strachan a.k.a wee flying leprechaun a.k.a steezebandit has not been down the slope so much as he has been getting mean, tough and gnarly out on the rugby field and damn he has one mean tackle no matter how big you are your going DOWN. When he does make it to the slope everyone is stoked to see him/ ride with him again. Emmet Strachan if you read this Gnarly Natalie wants to have much GNARLY shreddage with you before she leaves, you got 5 weeks, get on it duuuude :)

Lara Wood on Greef

Local rider Lara Wood has now joined the Granite Reef Snow Team, congrats!! She's been wanting this for so long so as expected is stoked.

Fin Jacobs dun dun dun....

One day Fin will fly onto the airbag on a board :)
Fin Jacobs is a gnarly awesome skateboarder but he ski's so on speaking to a gnarly snowboarder a snowboard lesson was arranged. To be honest I don't know who was more excited about it and as was predicted Fin kicked ass and did awesome. He was stoked, Natalie was stoked, everyone was stoked (well except the skiiers!!) and he's coming back for more :) Has Fin seen the light? can he be turned into a gnarly snowboarder? I think it's possible oh for sure it is and Fin has offered to give Natalie skateboard lessons stoked.

Wed 29th September....

Well what can I say really, Wednesday was set to be a busy rad day at the slope with lot's going on, what happens.... we all awake to the worst wind and rain we have had in a while, boo to you weather gods!! We don't mind the rain so much as it makes the slope nice and fast but it's the wind, oh don't get me started on the wind.

We saw RGU and Aberdeen Universities in for their annual meet and greet, racking up new members for their snowsports clubs with some ski and snowboard taster sessions being ran and an open session for those who already have the skillz to come down and shred. The weather didn't seem to put a dampener on their spirits and considering the conditions a pretty good turn out was had. Let's hope to see the students back as a regular appearance at the slope.

Following the day time antics of the students the night was for the Burton and Forum board test, unfortunately we had a poor turn out and I'm going to put this down to the weather putting people off the bunch of wuss's as by 7 o'clock the wind had died down and the conditions were pretty good.

Simon was down from Boarderline helping out the rep guy from Burton, with a steady flow of people testing out the boards and bindings on offer. Andy Duthie was the most stoked on testing out Burtons boards and was killing it it was non stop for him he had that adrenaline running through him all night and doing the cleanest 5 we've seen him do on return to the slope then thought why not I'll go for 7's and came pretty close on some and a front flip, wowzers.

Nicol, Chris Mahony, Emmet and Natalie were there representing the Boarderline snow team with Ben Kinnear still away and Barry P down in Glasgow doing his level 1 ski instructor course, they were both missed.

Overall all despite the turn out and the weather a pretty rad session was had, Fin and Keilan Bremner killing it and all the others doing some sick moves while testing out the boards and bindings, let's hope they come back next year.

ALLY GRAY....

A couple weeks ago Ally headed up to Aberdeen to have a slide at Garthdizzle, after a good few months of not been on his board he was stoked to get back on it getting used to riding dryslope again. By the end of the night he was throwing his steezy corked 5's off the kicker. Unfortunatelly his radstorm team mates were all away surfing apart from Natalie who was there to greet him but no worries we shall shred together soooon. Stoked your back Ally, we've all missed you and hopefully you'll make it up to ride again soon.

Westbeach Goes Off....

The Westbeach Snowflex Series headed up to Aberdeen for the first time and guess what they think our dryslope is one of the best in the UK, something that all local riders have known just people don't like to head so far North to see it's amazingness.

It is the best comp that has been held at the slope, well organised, talented riders good atmosphere, just an awesome day. Highlight was Kris Bell going for the backside 1080, so so so close to stomping it and guess what he stomped it on Wed night, he had that adrenaline running through him going for it again and again, he was KILLING IT!!

RIDER OF THE MONTH

Rider of the month

What is rider of the month?

Rider of the month will be an ongoing competition with a skier and snowboarder being chosen each month as the overall best rider of that month.

How will it be judged?

Riders will be judged on their overall progression throughout the month. They will also be chosen for having a good attitude and the ability to get others stoked simply by watching them.

So, who will be judging?

Nobody will know who is judging. Judges will be chosen each month but must keep it a secret until the end of the month. A different judge or judges will be chosen every month.

Will there be any prizes?

Of course there will be prizes. The best riders of the month will each get a t-shirt designed by our very own Natalie Riley. Furthermore they will each get a photo to be displayed in the log cabin.

Sounds good but, how much will it cost?

There will be no added cost; just the usual slope entrance fee

Starting This October...

Sunday 5 September 2010

DEATH RAIL JAM....

Today was the day of the Death Rail Jam, a pretty good turn out especially from the groms and a lot of the newer faces that have become regulars at the slope. The only older riders there were Barry P, Nicol, Andy Wilson and Nat Attack. Barry was killing it doing some sick front flip hand plants over Mals box which was set up over the table top, slaying the new red street rail and going HUGE to tap/ stall/ hand plant the unbez box which was at the top of the quarter pipe. Nicol doing some smooth back 180 to tapping the end of Mals box and just shredding with his layed back style hitting up most rails while providing some of his classic commentary, no matter what he'll tell you he does indeed love to have a mic in his hand!! Andy Wilson popped on his skis for a bit slaying the rails with his prodigy and overall winner for the skiers Grant Donald who does indeed have the skier steeze on rails no matter what type of rail it may be.

As you can see from these photo's front flips off Mals box were the tricks of the day (photo's taken by Katie Bremner) You'll see Emmet Strachan who was first to go for the front flip and was killing it alllllllll day flying round all the rails which landed him first place and a rad jacket which is an adults large so yes he got the gangsta steeze going on when he tried it on....

Barry

Andy Wilson

Emmet

Fin Bremner was going for it, the little ripper was pulling everything out of the bag and spinning onto mals box and off linking up lines of rails that no one else was doing, landing him the golden snowboard that was once ridden by Fraz....

All the skiers who turned up to slide were stepping it up and really going for it Grant and Matthew Helingoe going for rodeos off mals box which not the best of ideas giving Matt a fairly big bang on the head!! A stand out though was Lewis Wilson, he has not been skiing long but has become a regular face at the slope continually improving and learning new things, going for front flips off the box as well as hitting the other rails, unfortunately about half way through the session a bad landing onto his shoulder meant a trip to the hospital, we're not sure what he's done to himself yet (shoulder related though) but we hope is nothing too serious and a quick recovery will be had, to cheer him up though he won the gold and silver ski's and much deserved too :)

Andy Foote

Overall a sick rail session a big thank you to Mal J for organizing it and getting the new rails we've been seeing appear built, also to Nicol and all the other staff that helped out a rad way to start the competition season.

Friday Night Rails with your host Kris Bell :)

So with the death rail jam happening on the sunday, Friday the 13th oooooooooooo, saw a rad rail session go down leaving everyone stoked non other than the host himself Kris Bell who had come up with a sweet set up. He was even more stoked as he'd had his first driving lesson earlier in the day (seemingly he likes to drive close to the kerbs so I'd watch out if your a pedestrian!!) and got to go on the motorway flying at 70mph getting scared by a wee white van that was trying to over take a bit too close!! The 3rd week into the friday freestyle nights being back and it was the biggest turn out yet so please keep coming along and keeping Kris Bell stoked stoked stoked and he'll promise not to snap your board, he has enlisted Natalie's help on this and you know she can snap a board, haha.

Also this night saw the return of FRAZER RENNIE, Sir Frazzle Dazzle himself, it is always an honor to ride with him and a good session is always had when he's around :)
