Kris Bell has had a bit of bad news recently and what is this you ask, well he has broken his scaphoid bone in his left wrist, bad times!! He's been told it has to be in cast for about 8 weeks then get more x-rays, it seemingly takes a long time to heal up the pesky wee thing that it is, we all wish you well kris and hope it heals up good and look forward to when your back on your board amazing us with your skills again :)

Kris is known for his angry poses on his bored captured perfectly by Rutger in this photo and rumour has it he started a fight with the matting after catching his edge on landing a sweet backflip and the matt won, damn lesson learnt I guess!!

Interviews.....

Keep your eyes peeled for interviews with our stars on your right!! They've been sent the questions so all we do now is wait for them to send in their answers, they better be good!!

Ben's heading to New Zealand for the summer, their winter season which sounds rad, safe travels dude and hope you have an awesome time over there!! If you've had the opportunity to ride with Ben you will know what an amazing rider he is and makes it look so effortless while having much fun, always feel honored to ride with him as do most people I think!!

From 7 till close you'll see some of the best freestyle riders Aberdeen has to offer pushing each other on to go bigger better and gnarlier, a couple weeks ago we were witness to the first double front flip STOMPED at the slope by Mark Watson, INSANLEY GOOD (trying to get a copy of the vid to post up here as yes it was captured on film, sick!!)

Matthew Helingoe and Ross Cruickshank are best buddies and will always be seen down skiing together. They love their tall T's although it looks like their wearing nighties by the length of them, haha!! They are known to be a bit rebelious and sure they do some questionable stuff but that's who they are and what they do on their ski's is rad, they flip, they go big and like to hit a rail or 2, respect dudes!!

Check out this edit from a while back.....

GOAT

So this years GOAT competition has kicked off, with the trick list being released already the format has changed slightly from last year with the loss of suspence over what the next trick and vid will be like but there are a lot of new riders young and old who will benefit from something like this as last year it forced everyone to learn new tricks they might not have otherwise tried!! If you want a challenge try all the tricks in one session!!

Here's an edit put together by Andy Begg for the first round which was Backside 180 Melon for boarders and 180 japan grab for skiers.....

Set up and coached by Ben Kinnear and Nicol Paton, their first camp was heald for a week in easter in Morzine and was a success the groms involved ( Emmet Strachan, Kris Bell and Andy Gibson) were super stoked when they arrived back with all the new skills they'd learnt, nice one guys!!

to quote Emmet - ' BLoOooDY Amazing Fun :)'

Here's some rad photo's of them doing what they do best, being steeeeeeezzzzzzyyyyyy!!

Take a peek at their website as they have some plans on the horizon!!

Lecht Noember 2008 - lets go schralping

Love this vid, a good crew of people really does make a difference just makes riding radder.....

UNBEZ

'Unbez is
a creative team of riders from Scotland who are living around the world in various different resorts. They are looking to keep you crazy kids updated with some kool shinanagins!'
You'll find some blogging from Ally Gray, Andy Duthie and a wee report from Ben Kinnear from their seasons! Check it oot.....

More JB.....

When John Barnes straps on his board you are going to see someone who has such smooth and effortless style, soooo good to watch, shame he can't ride with us all more often!! Here's a vid of him doing some tricks at Garthdee and the other is a wee edit from when he did a season in Whistler steezy.....

Nice Backside 720 by John Barnes

Just a jammin comp ya know!!

The year was 2007 and Granite Reef used to hold like a monthly comp, this did not last long but was more just a reason to get a bunch of rad riders together for a bit of a jam. As you can see by the following 2 vids of one of the events there was a high standard of riding and they were popular events!!

First trip of the season to the gorms dec 09

Group Shot

Dave Jacobs took a wee crew of us up to the Gorms and what a rad day it was, Angus Jacobs, Greg Smith, Grant Donald, Matthew Hellingoe, Ross Cruickshank, Joe Bain and Natalie Riley. The drive there and back was just as eventful as the shred itself, Dave felt something was up with his car so we found a garage in the middle of nowhere to take a look while we all roamed around throwing snowballs at each other, luckily it got fixed and we could continue our journey, woohoo :)

Joe Grant

The day was perfect, good weather, no wind and pretty good snow even some pow, stoked. There was even this wall of snow we used as a jump, Matt and Ross were enjoying going for flips off this with Ross face planting one of them and yes there was blood present, he lived though so tis all good!!

Ross Matt

Soon it was time to make the journey back and thanks to Dave's expert driving on snow he saved us from going in a ditch when the car spun out and we were all huddled in the back pretty darn scared to be honest!!

Angus Greg
Natalie

Somethings missing.....

The Scottish winter season has been EPIC and we've all had some amazing days riding. Although unlike last year we did not take the bus up quite so much unfortunately. Meaning we did not get as much cool wee edits like last year, here's some of the vids that were made from last years trips up, you will certainly see an improvement in all your riding!!!!!

Synced Handplants

Some old footage of Kris Bell and Grant Donald doing synced handplants, rad!!

Fun student times!!

Aberdeen and RGU both have student snowsports clubs with a wednesday afternoon being when your most like to see them having a slide. Each year they battle it out in the Granite City Challenge, good times!! Check out these vids from 2007 and 2008, damn youtube and their privacy laws on music mean that you'll have to watch 2008's in silence (or listen to Bloc Party - Flux as if I remember rightly that was the song used), haha!!
