DEATH RAIL JAM....

Today was the day of the Death Rail Jam, a pretty good turn out especially from the groms and a lot of the newer faces that have become regulars at the slope. The only older riders there were Barry P, Nicol, Andy Wilson and Nat Attack. Barry was killing it doing some sick front flip hand plants over Mals box which was set up over the table top, slaying the new red street rail and going HUGE to tap/ stall/ hand plant the unbez box which was at the top of the quarter pipe. Nicol doing some smooth back 180 to tapping the end of Mals box and just shredding with his layed back style hitting up most rails while providing some of his classic commentary, no matter what he'll tell you he does indeed love to have a mic in his hand!! Andy Wilson popped on his skis for a bit slaying the rails with his prodigy and overall winner for the skiers Grant Donald who does indeed have the skier steeze on rails no matter what type of rail it may be.

As you can see from these photo's front flips off Mals box were the tricks of the day (photo's taken by Katie Bremner) You'll see Emmet Strachan who was first to go for the front flip and was killing it alllllllll day flying round all the rails which landed him first place and a rad jacket which is an adults large so yes he got the gangsta steeze going on when he tried it on....

Fin Bremner was going for it, the little ripper was pulling everything out of the bag and spinning onto mals box and off linking up lines of rails that no one else was doing, landing him the golden snowboard that was once ridden by Fraz....

All the skiers who turned up to slide were stepping it up and really going for it Grant and Matthew Helingoe going for rodeos off mals box which not the best of ideas giving Matt a fairly big bang on the head!! A stand out though was Lewis Wilson, he has not been skiing long but has become a regular face at the slope continually improving and learning new things, going for front flips off the box as well as hitting the other rails, unfortunately about half way through the session a bad landing onto his shoulder meant a trip to the hospital, we're not sure what he's done to himself yet (shoulder related though) but we hope is nothing too serious and a quick recovery will be had, to cheer him up though he won the gold and silver ski's and much deserved too :)

Andy Foote

Overall a sick rail session a big thank you to Mal J for organizing it and getting the new rails we've been seeing appear built, also to Nicol and all the other staff that helped out a rad way to start the competition season.
